Cape Cod

We headed to Cape Cod early Friday. The weather was finally hot and perfect for the beach. We stayed at a hotel in Falmouth across from the beach. We love this beach because you get a perfect view across the sound over to Martha's Vineyard and the water stays pretty warm.

A mother and baby whale at the beach. They were about 10 feet from shore. At first the life guards panicked thinking it was a Great White and cleared the water until they realized it was just whales.

We're home!

We are home. The bags are unpacked and the laundry is done. We had a great time and I wish we had been able to stay longer. We had to get home for DH to get back to work.

First we headed to Storyland. It was a long ride, but didn't seem like it because the girls were awesome in the car. They were beyond excited to go.

We stayed at Storyland until closing and then headed 2 hours to my parent's house in New Hampshire. The girls were equally excited to get there and spend some time being spoiled by my parents.

We spent the entire next day out on the boat. My dad had bought a new raft called a "bomber" and we rotated riding on it. It was a lot of fun. We parked the boat in the center of the massive lake and spent a few hours swimming too. Heather found it fascinating to jump off the boat in the middle of the lake. (No need to panic, she had a life vest and I was right there!) The pictures of me riding the raft along with some other good shots are on my mom's camera, so hopefully she will email them to me this week.

"Dad, are you sure there are no animals in this water?

The next day we left Heather with my parents and the 3 of us headed to Water Country. It was HOT out. It hit record high everyday we were up there. We had a blast at water country though. Alison is a wild child and went on everything. Nothing was too high, fast or scary for that girl.

Vacation

We are heading to Storyland in NH early tomorrow morning. The girls know we are going soon, but they don't realize it is tomorrow. Heather is going to be so excited. She talks about going all the time. Hubby managed to get a couple of days off from both jobs which is nothing short of a miracle. I am thinking that we might also hit Water Country if we have time this week before we head home. Who knows, if the weather is nice enough maybe I will stay at my parent's house for a while and enjoy the lake!

As much as I am dreading 5 1/2 hours in the car tomorrow, I am excited to watch the kids having fun.

The Beach & More Pictures

We took the girls to the beach today. Heather took a few minutes to convince to go in the water. She wasn't impressed with the waves and salty water at first. But once she got in, she wouldn't come out. We had perfect weather and a lot of fun.

Memorial Weekend Part 2

As you read, I took the girls to my parent's lake house in NH for the weekend. It was a little chilly at first, but then we had gorgeous weather. We spent our time between the beach and my parents new pontoon boat, which I could easily spend every day on. The girls caught some teeny baby fish, saw a HUGE turtle by their dock and caught a giant toad. All exciting things of course. I sabotaged my diet for a few days with french fries and ice cream. Well worth it.

I apologize in advance to any dial uppers. Picture overload ahead.

Memorial Weekend Part 1

I should warn you that part one will consist of drama. Involving a car that sucks. Again. (Part 2 will be a positive post, I swear.)

I took the girls up to NH to stay with my parents for the weekend. (Part 2 will fall here, but not till tomorrow..lol.) We left this afternoon to head home. I stopped in Walmart to grab a snack for the kids before pulling on the highway. When we got out my car would not start. It was making odd sounds and all of the not so good lights popped on. Need I remind everyone that I just sunk $1600 into it less than a week a go? And then Friday brought it to the shop(the check engine light popped on). They checked it, cleared the code and said it was great to go. Ha! So back to the walmart parking lot.. I realize my car is not going anywhere, call DH back home to tell him to stand by. Call my father to come get us since we are in the middle of nowhere. In the meantime Alison is sobbing and upset. Nothing I can say will calm her. This rubs off on Heather. Now I am in the walmart parking lot(icky enough as is) with both girls crying and we are melting in the heat. My father comes, takes the girls in his car while I wait for a tow truck. He comes, says it looks not bad, but cant figure out what it is. Electrical, my automatic starter screwing with the computer, the engine(aaah)? He tows it back home. 100 miles away. I am now with my dad, the girls-still in the parking lot. DH's car is broken at home and he can't come get me. He finally tracks down my brother , who lets him use his car. My dad drives us halfway and we are rescued at last. After 4.5 hours. Yuck for everyone involved.

Friday we headed up to stay at my parent's house in NH. We left here late and didn't get there until almost 9. Heather went to bed soon after we got there and I kept Alison up until midnight in hopes that she would sleep good and not wake Heather up(bad mommy!) Heather woke up at 2 am the first night, so Bob went to sleep in the room with Alison. I finally got Heather to go back to bed after about an hour. Then Alison got up at 6. yuck! We spent a lot of time out in the boats, which the kids love.

Heather waving to my parents from the boat

It was nice to get away, but I have to admit that Heather really wore me out. She only wants Mommy and no one else can do anything for her. It isn't fun for me. Bob watched her while I went kayaking with my mother and Heather freaked and wailed the binnoculars into the lake. Then later I attempted to leave her with Bob while I showered and she had a fit for him and threw her toy into the lake. Which is too deep to find anything in. Little brat! She learned her lesson about throwing things in the water after she realized no one could get her toy back though. She was devastated!

Heather insisted on sleeping in the bottom bunk that night instead of the port a crib. She surprised me and did great. She got up once in the night and but did go back to sleep after a while. Then she napped in the bed Sunday too. I guess she is growing up on me. *sigh*

who me tired? never.

Sunday we headed over to a local state park to swim because the lake my parent's are on had a swim advisory(bacteria.) The state park was beautiful. The water was crystal clear and so warm. Even Heather ventured in for the first time past her knees and swam. Yay! I was so excited to see her having such a good time in the water.

We got home late Sunday and caught up on our sleep.
